The 2008 Baltimore and Anne Arundel area school's "Panorama" was held last evening at the Old Mill Senior High School's gymnasium. Playing to a packed audience, the five area bands, Stoneleigh Elementary, General John Stricker Middle, Sparrows Point High, Catonsville High and Old Mill Senior High schools delivered exactly what the audience expected, good Music.
The evening started with the Old Mill High School intermediate band
followed by Sparrows Point High School Steelband setting the stage with Andy Narell's Zig Zag.
Catonsville High School kept the pace going with another of Narell's composition Tatum, title track from his latest CD.
The final two performers were Admiral Stricker and Old Mill Sr. High,
with the latter doing their rendition of the Depers Panorama hit Musical Volcano.
The format for the evening was the same, with each band playing the usual three selections
followed by two more with all five bands playing en masse.
It was extremely encouraging to see so many in attendance for this stellar event, even though it was held so early in the school week.
It just proves that pan is really not "Ah weekend ting". I must thank the five band directors for the many hours of hard work leading up to this event, and Old Mill High School for again granting the use of their facility.
