Every year (since 1904) the guilds of Zürich and the townspeople celebrate their traditional spring festival, Sechseläuten
(Züri German: Sächsilüüte). The celebrations get underway on Sunday already, with a charming and colorful children's parade.
On Monday is the procession of the guilds to the bonfire where the "Böögg" (snowman effigy stuffed with firecrackers)
is burned six o'clock in the evening, sharp. Some call it 'rich people's carnival'. What looks like Carnival is a showcase of real historic dress costumes (15th century and up). Every year a guest canton's invited, this year it's been the canton of Zug, including 3 steel bands: Tartarugas, PanPhonics, Pan Dreams.
