In loving memory of Ralph “Azul” Richardson

Dear pan friends,

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ralph “Azul” Richardson (13.12.1936 – 20.12.2020). He has died last night, on the 4th Sunday of Advent, very peacefully holding his daughter’s hand.

The flights in from the UK have been cancelled and direct flights home are non existent. The plan is to have the funeral here in Zurich in the new year. We will let you all know details when we do.

Our hearts are heavy with sadness and tears. But our memories are full of love, kindness, joy and happy musical adventures he gave us over the years.

Ralph was born in Trinidad and died in Switzerland. He leaves his children Ian, Jade and Misty, his sisters Jean and Deana, and his grandson Zachariah.

Please join us on the 24th December as we say a prayer and light a candle for our beloved pan friend and tutor at 10am GMT as his body is cremated. In the new year, when de COVID restrictions lift, we will celebrate Ralph with a mass in Switzerland, more details to follow.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.

Taken in 1963: Stretch Cox (Limbo), Irwin Clement, Brian Henderson, Horace James and Ralph Richardson.
