Unter Anleitung von Jürgen Lesker lernen die Teilnehmer schnell, kleine Melodien selber zu spielen. Dafür muss man keine Noten kennen.
Der Workshop wird im Rahmen des Kulturrucksack-Projektes kostenlos angeboten, und richtet sich an elf- bis vierzehnjährige Mädchen und Jungen. Wie eine echte Band werden die Teilnehmer bei der Abschlusspräsentation des Kulturrucksack-Jahres am 14. November im LEO sogar vor Publikum spielen, und es auf eine musikalische Reise in die Karibik mitnehmen.
Produits de l’inventivité des groupes sociaux les plus défavorisés, les « Steel bands » sont nés dans les faubourgs populaires de Port of Spain, capitale de l’île de Trinidad (Caraïbes, dans les années 30).
2 passionnés de cette culture, Guillaume Kervel et Alain Rouaud vous parleront de ces bidons de pétrole transformés en instruments de percussions mélodiques au relief sonore si riche appelés steel drum ou pan.
La présentation sera illustrée en diaporama et en musique live.

Following their outstanding 2019 album Pan Machine, Europe’s most prominent steel band Ebony Steel Band join us at The Jazz Cafe to play the music of Kraftwerk in a brand new light.
The original idea was created by music journalist, producer and writer Ian Shirley who approached the band to rework Kraftwerk classics. The search for sonorous clarity had brought him to Pepe Francis MBE, director of Ebony Steel Band, in order to accurately reflect the electronics of the original records.
The show is based on the landmark album with music arranged by Delphina James and released by OM Swagger Music, performed live by Ebony Steel Band.
