Trailer: Women in Pan series | A Better Tomorrow

TT – On September 9th, Mark Loquan and Maria Nunes premiered “Women in Pan” — a 10-part web series and the latest production under Loquan’s A Better Tomorrow banner. New episodes will be released each Friday at 7pm (Trinidad and Tobago time), with the first five highlighting contemporary issues in steelpan through the lens of five outstanding women — Yuko Asada, Dr. Mia Gormandy-Benjamin, Vanessa Headley, Michelle Huggins-Watts, and Natasha Joseph — whose experience ranges from composing, arranging, teaching, conducting and performing, to making and tuning pans. They are among a pantheon of women who have contributed immeasurably to the artform. The second five episodes feature in-depth, wide-ranging interviews with each of them — sharing the journeys they have taken to get where they are today. The goal for the series is to shine a light on musicians who can inspire others, and to pose a simple question — how can we individually and collectively create a better tomorrow, for others and for ourselves?
