Two primary schools receive steel pan ensemble

TT – Two primary schools were last week presented with eight-piece steel pan ensemble to received aid in the holistic development of students when the new school term opens on September 1, 2020.

Minister in the Ministry of Education, Dr Lovell Francis, and Cheryl Ann Wilkinson, Advisor to the Minister of Education, delivered the eight-piece steel ensembles to Avocat Vedic Primary School and Madressa Al Muslimeen Primary School.

Each eight-piece ensemble comprises of one Six Bass, one Tenor Bass, one Cello, one Guitar, one Double Second, one Double Tenor, and two single Tenors.

The pans were requested by the principals of both schools with the aim of exposing their students to a well-rounded school experience, which includes music education.

The initiative was organised through the ministry’s Multicultural Music Programme Unit (MMPU), with one of its instructors, Roland ‘Moose’ Joseph, blending the instruments.
